Some New Mini Pix

Ok...so it's been a week since I have been able to post anything. Work has been a real bear lately. Anyways, I finally got around to posting some new pics. They are of older stuff and some unfinished stuff. Haven't had a chance to continue with the Mighty Armies yet, but will get to it soon. I just needed to vary my topics. I get bored with kust one thing.

Anyways, enough blathering and on to the pics. If you click the following link http://www.thesykoward.com/minipix/Page1.htm it will take you to a gallery page of the pics. The first pics are of some Demonworld Empires figures(I'm so bummed that they discontinued this game, it was really fun). Next are some old school Necrons and a Rat Ogre. After that, the Kroot and Tau show my planned paint scheme for these figures. By the way, I'm going to be using my Kroot as Tuskan Raiders for the Star Wars minis game. Also some Krootox as Bantha and rider. Let you how it turns out. The marine guy next is the one from the Macragge boxed set. I won third at the GW store at the Block At Orange for his paint job, although there were only three entries :P After him is the color scheme I wil be using for my Skinks. Then some Warmaster figs, some old school GW Orcs and some Chaos warriors I never finished. Hope you enjoy the pics. Thanks for looking. Come back soon.

Damn! It's been over three months since I last updated! Made myself look like a liar. Between moving at work, work, kids and all the BS of life I'm finally making an update.

I tried to think of something that would make me keep updating on a fairly consistent basis. So, I thought of something that would get some of my family involved, namely my oldest son. I wanted to find something that would be easy for him to understand and quick to paint up and get ready. I figured 15mm would be quickest as there's less to paint. So, I set out to find a suitable game. I already own Armies of Arcana from Thanes Gamesbut currently have very few minis painted up (I'll be working on that too).

After seeing a few posts on TMP about Mighty Armies from Mongoose Publishing I decided to give the game a try. Heading down to Brookhurst Hobbies I found two Mighty Armies there. The Orcs and Wild Elves.

Both sets were fairly priced at just $24.95. They include dice, rules, ruler and of course the minis. The Orcs army contains 52 miniatures and the Wild Elves contains 56 miniatures. So, off to the counter I go pay for two new armies along with four packs of Confrontaion Dwarves(more about them later:). Don't get to do much Saturday night.

Come Sunday I pop open both boxes to see what I get inside. I'm going to focus first on the Wild Elves as I really like the figures. Here's a picture of the contents.

So after some sorting I decide I want to work on the Elven Cavalry. These are nice looking horses. Here's a sample pic.

I first cleaned off the horse figures of their flash(which was minimal) mounted them to a tongue depressor, four on each, and blasted them with a coat of GW white primer.

I figured I wanted a bit of variety to the horses so decided on four of them being black, two brown and two grey. From here on I'll explain what I did. Now, just to let you know I'm not the greatest of painters. I think my painting sucks, but I'm having fun while I do it and it relaxes me. Besides, as they say, at arms length, you really can't tell. So, onward.

All the paints I use are GW by the way. So, the two brown horses I painted first with Scorched Brown, drybrushed with Snakebite Leather and then again with Vomit Brown. The two grey horses I First painted with Shadow Grey and then drybrushed with Space Wolves Grey. Here's the progress so far.

Now onto the four black horses. I first painted them Chaos Black and then drybrushed them with Shadow Grey. I then painted their saddles, reigns, bridles and hooves with Dark Flesh Highliting with Snakebite Leather and then Vomit Brown. The hooves I highlighted with Kommando Khaki and then Skull White. I later painted their bases Goblin Green and the black horses were done.

Back two the other horses. I painted their saddles, bridles, reigns, manes, tails and hooves with Chaos Black. The Saddles I painted with Midnight Blue, highligthed with Hawk Turqoise and then Ice Blue. Weird colors I know, but I couldn't think of anything better at the time and I wanted to het these done rather quickly. I then painted the bridles and reigns with Vomit Brown and the bases with Goblin Green.

After allowing some time for the paint to dry, I popped the horses off of their temporary mountings and I glued them to their bases. Except for some flocking that needs to be done, the horses for the time being are done.

So, there you go. Hope you enjoyed the quick read. Next time, the Riders....maybe.

Ok. New post! Told ya I would keep this one up. So, as it so happens, I'm a member of a great group of people online know collective as The Miniatures Page (see links at sidebar). It's run by a guy named Bill Armintrout who's pretty well know in gaming circles (I have the GURPS Space book he wrote) and he does an awesome job of running a great site (yeah, I'm kissin' butt, so what :) . Anyway's, I posted there that I started a Blog and found several others iwth some cool Blogs so I posted links to all their Blog's here (see sidebar again under TMP Bloggers) for others to enjoy. Some really good stuff too. That's it for right now, but I'll be back again soon.

Ok, I just couldn't resist puting this one up from my collection. And for the record, staying in bed shouting OH GOD works just fine for me. LOL.

Now, let me try posting my first pic. Hope you like it.
Here's a recipe for some crazy drink I got a while back. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm sure several readers may try it. Let me know if you do and if it works.

Recipe of the week - Brain Haemorrhage

Take a shot glass and pour approx. 3/4 glass peach schnapps. Slowly pour Baileys into the middle of the glass, where it should form a ball in the centre of the schnapps. Dribble in a little red and blue aftershock over the 'brain' to simulate blood and veins. Now 'shoot' the drink and feel the brain pop on your tongue.

Happy Drinking!
Here are some quotes I thought would be fun to put up.

"Only after disaster can you be resurrected, its only after you've lost everything that you are free to do anything. Nothing is static, everything is evolving, everything is falling apart. This is your life and its ending one minute at a time." -Tyler Durden 'FightClub'

"Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up." -The Ataris

"I don't have 'pet peeves', I have major psychotic fucking hatreds."-George Carlin

Have a good one!

Well...what to say? I totally forgot I even had this space here. I went to sign up and it said the name I wanted already existed and when I checked it out it was mine. HA! Do I feel stupid. I have signed up for so much stuff over the last few years I have no idea what I'm with any more. Let's see if I can keep this thing going this time without waiting two years. We'll see how things go shall we.

Here's one of my favorite websites on the net. If you like miniatures and their related games, check it out.
The Miniatures Page
Hey world! This is the first time I use this thing. Thought it might be a quicker way up getting stuff to web than programming by hand like I usually do. Also for putting up updates to my other sites. Well, anyways, lets see how this works out.
